The Karel Music Expo returns to Cagliari for its twentieth edition, transforming the evocative spaces of the Lazzaretto di Sant'Elia and the Fortino di Sant'Ignazio into a boundless cultural laboratory. From September 2-5, 2026, the Vox Day cooperative presents 'Lune – Beyond the Boundaries of Sound', a program celebrating the encounter between tradition and musical experimentation, offering twelve concerts that traverse diverse languages and cultures. The festival stands out for its pursuit of open and inclusive music, with a prestigious international lineup: from Douglas Dare to Beth Orton, from Norwegian band Kanaan to acclaimed national artists including Ministri, Elepharmers, Perry Frank, Basaltic Plateau, and Cagliari native Raffaele Matta. A special edition that preserves Karel's vocation as a space for cultural exchange and exploration of new sonic horizons, establishing itself as one of the most significant festivals on the Sardinian music scene. The inauguration features the traditional sunrise concert on September 2: Italian-Swiss harpist Raoul Moretti will welcome the sunrise from the Fortino di Sant'Ignazio, while subsequent evenings will enliven the external courtyard of the Lazzaretto with musical offerings that reinvent themselves without losing their roots. Each evening is conceived as a journey through diverse sounds, from contemporary folk to experimental electronic, from improvisation music to cross-cultural fusion. The theme 'Lune – Beyond the Boundaries of Sound' reflects the festival's mission: to transcend geographic and stylistic barriers through music, creating authentic moments of encounter between artists and audiences in fascinating, history-rich venues.
