Fressada a Villanova Monteleone

Villanova Monteleone becomes the heart of Sardinian textile tradition with Fressada, an exhibition dedicated to carpets and handcrafted textiles that tell centuries of island craftsmanship. From June 14-21, 2026, the spaces of Su Palatu and the former ISOLA Center will host the most precious creations from Sardinia's most prestigious workshops, from Aggius to Samugheo, from Sarule to Seulo. At the heart of the narrative is ‹sa fressada›, the quintessential textile symbol of the territory, present with unique characteristics in numerous communities across the island. These traditional carpets, woven with techniques passed down through generations, represent the most authentic cultural identity of Sardinia, telling stories of the women who dedicated their lives to preserving this ancient art. An unmissable opportunity to discover the cultural value of Sardinian craftsmanship and the excellence of local artisans. The exhibition comes alive through performances by the Coro de Iddanoa choir and the Tradizioni Popolari Folk Group, offering visitors moments of pure sonic and folkloric magic. Interactive workshops organized by the ArTes cultural association will allow visitors to touch and understand the fascinating traditional weaving techniques while engaging directly with the artisans.
