Festa del Santissimo Salvatore a Cabras (Feast of the Holy Savior)

The Festa del Santissimo Salvatore in Cabras is one of Sardinia's most deeply felt religious and traditional celebrations. The rituals begin at dawn with an evocative walk undertaken by hundreds of barefoot women in traditional Sardinian costume, carrying the statue of Santu Srabadoeddu from the Church of Santa Maria in Cabras to the rural hamlet of San Salvatore di Sinis across the dirt paths of the Sinis peninsula. The highlight of the festival is the renowned Corsa degli Scalzi ('Barefoot Race'), during which hundreds of devotees known as 'Is Curridoris', dressed in white and strictly barefoot, run alongside the statue of the Saint over several kilometers. The entire cycle of festivities combines liturgical rites, novenas, and a vibrant cultural program, concluding with the solemn return procession of the statue back to Cabras.
