Festa di Transumanza di Montechiaro (Cattle Drive Festival)

In Montechiaro (Lichtenberg), a hamlet of Prato allo Stelvio, the traditional Festa di Transumanza celebrates the enchanting return of livestock from high-altitude summer pastures. The true stars of the day are the animals, beautifully decorated with festive floral headdresses and bells as they parade through the village streets. The procession reaches the parish church around 1:00 PM before continuing across town to the meadow adjacent to the sports area. Celebrations kick off at 12:00 PM at the sports grounds, featuring lively entertainment, local food, and refreshing drinks to welcome the herds. In case of bad weather, the festival will be postponed to the following Saturday.
