Il rientro del bestiame dall'alpeggio (The Return of Cattle from Mountain Pastures)

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the hamlet of Plan in the municipality of Moso in Passiria hosts the traditional festival celebrating the return of cattle from the high mountain pastures. This evocative event marks the transhumance, bringing over 150 cows and calves back down to the valley after their summer stay at the Lazins alpine pasture, located at an altitude of over 1,800 meters. Starting around noon, the animals will parade through the center of Plan, beautifully adorned for the occasion with magnificent, handcrafted headdresses and floral arrangements. The festive day begins at 11:00 AM at the Lazins pasture and continues in the village of Plan until 9:00 PM. Visitors can look forward to tastings of traditional Val Passiria specialties, live music, and the characteristic whip-cracking performances by the local group 'Psairer Goaslschnöller'. The event will also feature traditional Alpine wrestling matches, known as 'Psairer Ranggeln'. This event is made possible through the collaboration of various local associations, including the Grauvieh-Jungzüchter Passeier and the Grauviehzuchtverein Passeier.
