Sagra del baccalà (Salt Cod Festival)

The Sagra del baccalà in Villa Lagarina celebrates its milestone twentieth edition, honoring the rich culture, history, and culinary traditions of rural Trentino and the Vallagarina valley. Organized by the Borgoantico APS Association, the festival welcomes food lovers with a menu paying homage to authentic local gastronomy. In the Borgoantico kitchen, visitors can savor traditional delights such as polenta with salt cod (baccalà)—also available for takeout—brobrusà toasted flour soup, polenta with cured herring (renga), and polenta served alongside Val di Gresta sauerkraut and savory Trentine luganega sausages. The dining experience finishes on a sweet note with regional desserts like apple strudel and torta de formentom (cornmeal cake), paired with fine local wines from Cantina Vivallis. Alongside the festive feasts, the event features a vibrant program including guided tours, exhibitions, and cultural activities designed to showcase the authentic local heritage.
