The traditional celebration of the Most Holy Name of Mary in Silandro is a festival deeply rooted in local history, linked to a solemn vow made in 1799 when the community and the Schützen entrusted themselves to the sacred image of the Virgin kept in the parish church to protect the town from advancing Napoleonic troops. On this festive day, the statue of the Virgin Mary is removed from the altar and carried in a solemn procession through the village streets. The sacred parade is accompanied by music performed by the Silandro Town Band and the characteristic gun salutes fired by the Schützen riflemen. Following the religious ceremonies, the celebration continues with convivial festivities at the Matscher Au area, where the local brass band hosts a traditional outdoor fair open to all.
