Sagra del Tortello

On Sunday, June 28th, the small village of Montepiano in Vernio comes alive with a celebration dedicated to one of the most representative dishes of local gastronomy: the tortello filled with potatoes, prepared by hand right before visitors' eyes. A perfect opportunity to rediscover the authentic flavors of the Pistoian mountains, where this recipe, passed down through generations, represents the essence of local peasant cooking. The Montepiano tortello, with its genuine filling of potatoes and cheese, is a gastronomic excellence that tells the story and traditions of the community. Organized by the Pro Loco di Montepiano, the event takes place on Sunday, June 28th starting at 12:00 at the Pro Loco/Chalet gardens. Visitors can taste freshly cooked tortelli, topped with meat sauce or butter and sage, accompanied by the finest local products: regional wines, artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and typical Tuscan sweets. From the afternoon onwards (starting at 3:00 PM), the celebration comes alive with live music, creating the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable day with family and friends. The event is suitable for the whole family and offers a special opportunity to discover how this iconic dish is prepared, thanks to live cooking demonstrations. Pricing and menu: Tortelli are offered in portions of 6-8 pieces (€12-16). A fixed menu is also available at €25, which includes tortelli, a side dish, wine, and dessert.
