The Sagra della Nozza of Calcinaia celebrates its 49th edition and continues to honour one of Tuscany's most enchanting pastry traditions. This historic event, taking place on 16 and 17 May in Piazza Indipendenza, is dedicated to the nozza—a crispy wafer rolled into a cone shape that holds centuries of local history within it. The sweet, made with simple yet precious ingredients such as flour, sugar, eggs, mint liqueur, olive oil, vanilla sugar and anise, takes its name from the tradition of preparing it for weddings, making it a symbol of celebration and conviviality. Two days celebrating authentic flavour and Tuscan gastronomic tradition await you in Calcinaia. On Saturday 16 May, the event opens its doors at 19:00 directly in the square, while the food stand on via Buozzi will be operating from 21:30 onwards to serve you freshly prepared nozza. The festivities continue on Sunday 17 May, with afternoon and evening dedicated to tasting and discovering this extraordinary sweet.
