Sagra della Polenta (Polenta Festival)

The 21st edition of the Sagra della Polenta returns to Pietramala, the charming hamlet of Firenzuola in the province of Florence, on Saturday, August 22, 2026. An unmissable event for lovers of traditional Tuscan cuisine and, in particular, polenta-based dishes, which in the heart of Alto Mugello represent a fundamental element of local gastronomy. This is a tradition deeply rooted in the agricultural history of the Tuscan mountains: polenta, a humble yet hearty dish, has been the foundation of local communities' diet for centuries. This festival celebrates that culinary heritage, transforming it into a celebration of food and community that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Despite the summer season, the mountain location ensures cool evenings perfect for enjoying substantial and comforting dishes. The varied menu features specialties ranging from classic meat ragù polenta to fried polenta, wild boar polenta, squacquerone cheese, braised ribs, and local desserts, along with wines from the region. Food stands open at 7 PM, allowing visitors to dine in the authentic atmosphere of the festival. Organized by the Pro Loco of Pietramala with completely free admission, the event continues with live music late into the evening, creating a perfect blend of culinary tradition and entertainment.
