Sagra di' Pinolo

The Sagra di' Pinolo in San Casciano in Val di Pesa returns for its extraordinary 49th edition, a milestone rooted in 1977. This historic event celebrates one of Tuscany's most precious fruits, the pine nut, deeply intertwined with the history and traditions of the small village of Chiesanuova, where for generations the harvesting of pine cones and processing of pine nuts have been central to the community's way of life. The event takes place in the enchanting CRC Park in Chiesanuova, situated at just 300 meters altitude on the ancient Etruscan Via Volterrana, a few kilometers from Florence. Over two weekends, from June 4-7 and June 11-14, the village transforms into a stage of authentic flavors and distributed entertainment, where local gastronomy meets convivial gatherings. The undisputed stars remain the thematic culinary specialties: traditional first courses like pappardelle with porcini mushrooms and tagliatelle with pine nuts, succulent grilled meats, local cheeses, and above all the ‹Pinolata›, the festival's signature dessert made with shortcrust pastry and roasted pine nuts that captures the essence of the territory. The gastronomic offerings are completed by DOC Tuscan wines, craft beers, and traditional sweets. Each evening (from 7:00 PM to midnight) features a varied program with live music from local artists, group dancing, puppet shows, and entertainment for all ages, making this festival an unmissable appointment for those wanting to discover authentic Tuscany.
