On Monday, September 7, 2026, the 16th Walking Pilgrimage connecting the Santuario di Santa Maria in Impruneta to the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata in Florence takes place. This religious event is organized by the 'In Cammino' Association of Florence in collaboration with the Municipality of Florence and under the patronage of the Municipalities of Impruneta and Bagno a Ripoli, renewing a tradition revived in 2011 to trace the ancient route historically taken for the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The journey sets off from Piazza Buondelmonti in Impruneta and includes an intermediate meeting point at Cascine del Riccio. After a rest stop at the Church of Santa Felicita in Florence, participants join the traditional civic Lantern Procession ('Corteo delle Rificolone') through the historic city streets and Piazza San Giovanni, finally reaching the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata.
