Sagra del Fungo Porcino con Polenta

The renowned Sagra del Fungo Porcino con Polenta returns to Massa Macinaia for its 31st edition. From June 27 to July 26, 2026, every Saturday and Sunday, lovers of traditional Lucca cuisine will immerse themselves in the authentic flavors of Garfagnana. Fresh porcini mushrooms take center stage, paired with polenta made from hand-ground corn flour according to ancient local recipes—a combination that captures the very essence of Tuscan gastronomy. The festival menu offers far more than just the celebrated main course: bronze-cut pasta, characteristic frantoiana soup, grilled meats, and traditional torte co' becchi all tell the story of Lucca's culinary heritage. The culinary experience is completed by a selection of excellent local wines, primarily from the Montecarlo region, which perfectly complement the mushrooms and polenta. Beyond gastronomy, the festival serves a charitable purpose, with proceeds supporting the activities of the Misericordia di Massa Macinaia and San Giusto. With free admission and entertainment from the region's finest orchestras and cover bands, this five-weekend celebration promises authentic Tuscan flavors, music, and conviviality.
