Sagra del Tordello

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Lucca countryside, in the heart of Segromigno in Monte, the Sagra del Tordello celebrates one of the most iconic dishes in local cuisine. From June 2-28, 2026, this gastronomic event pays tribute to a centuries-old culinary tradition, transforming the village into a capital of artisanal filled pasta. Tordello is a filled pasta with ancient roots, and its recipes are jealously guarded by families throughout the territory. This is far more than a simple food festival—it's a genuine tribute to artisanal craftsmanship and the culinary culture that defines this corner of Tuscany. Every tordello is still made by hand today, following techniques passed down through generations. Local variations reflect the richness of the region: the traditional filling combines minced pork, cheese, breadcrumbs, and spices, while some families maintain secrets kept for decades. Tordelli are served with butter and sage, or in meat broth—condiments that enhance their genuine, unmistakable flavor. Each bite tells the story of the territory and the deep bond between the local community and its ingredients. During the festival, food stalls are open from 12:00-14:30 and 19:00-23:00 (extended hours on weekends). Dishes are offered at accessible prices: a portion of tordelli (6-8 pieces) costs around €8-12, with complete menus available at €20-25. No advance reservation is required for individual visitors, though organized groups are invited to contact the organizers. The Sagra del Tordello is much more than food: it's a complete experience of conviviality and immersion in Lucca culture.
