In the historic center and Piazza Matteotti in Calabritto, autumn comes alive with the festival 'Castagna Regina - Sagra della Castagna e della Tirata De.Co. con farina di castagne', organized by the Pubblica Assistenza 'Aurora' volunteer association. The event is wholly dedicated to celebrating local gastronomic treasures and the rich bounty of the Irpinia woodlands. Food stalls present a genuine journey through culinary heritage: the star of the table is the local certified 'Tirate De.Co.' pasta made with chestnut flour and smothered in rich sausage rag霉, flanked by pork stew with chestnuts, grilled sausages, roast porchetta, and melt-in-your-mouth 'caciocavallo impiccato' (hanging grilled cheese). Visitors can also indulge in roasted chestnuts, local wine, and traditional homemade desserts crafted by local homemakers, such as chestnut tarts and rustic castagnaccio. To complete the experience, the evening is enlivened by live musical entertainment featuring the Fantasy Show starting at 9:00 PM.
