Giovenche di Razza Rendena (Rendena Breed Young Cattle Festival)

Among the mountains of Trentino, in Pinzolo, one of the most enchanting events of the Italian summer returns: a celebration dedicated to the Giovenche di Razza Rendena. For nine days, from late August to early September, the Val Rendena comes alive with an authentic celebration of its farming heritage, as over 150 decorated young cattle adorned with mountain flowers parade through the village streets in a spectacular and colorful procession. Farmers in traditional costumes, accompanied by hay carts and vintage carriages, tell a story of dedication and passion for raising the Rendena breed, Trentino's only native cattle breed. But this is far more than just a parade: it's a genuine celebration of local culture that engages all the senses. The Rendena Food Festival takes visitors on a gastronomic journey through authentic flavors, from Rendena breed cheeses to typical dishes such as polenta carbonera, all paired with excellent Trentino wines. Meanwhile, the Giovenche Music Fest livens up the evenings with live music and DJs, while creative workshops allow children to discover mountain traditions in a fun and engaging way. The event culminates with the election of the ‹Reginetta di Pinzolo›, when an expert judge selects the finest young heifer among over 150 candidates. Horseback rides in Adamello Brenta Park, visits to educational farms, and cheese-making workshops complete an unforgettable experience that transforms Pinzolo into a showcase of Alpine agri-food excellence.
