Sagra del Picio, della Donzella e della Rostinciana (Festival of Pici, Donzella and Rostinciana)

Follonica prepares to celebrate the authentic flavours of Maremma with the Sagra del Picio, della Donzella e della Rostinciana, running from 21 to 26 July 2026. For six consecutive evenings, gastronomic stands set up in Via Litoranea within the enchanting pinewood of Palazzi Rossi will showcase the finest specialities of Tuscan culinary tradition, in a convivial atmosphere where good food becomes an opportunity for meeting, sharing and entertainment. The three signature dishes of the festival represent Maremma's gastronomic excellence: pici, hand-rolled fresh pasta symbolising southern Tuscany, donzelle, delicious fried bread pasties with an unmistakable flavour, and rostinciana, the masterpiece of Tuscan cuisine par excellence. These are complemented by other specialities such as Maremma tortelli, prepared according to authentic recipes and zero-kilometre ingredients, guaranteed by high-quality local suppliers. The event, organised by the historic Follonica Hockey 1952 society with support from the local community, goes beyond simply celebrating food: it represents an opportunity to support the city's roller hockey team, a discipline in which Follonica boasts the prestigious distinction of being the only Italian club to have won the European Champions Cup. The evenings will be enlivened by live music and local entertainment, creating a festive and authentic atmosphere perfect for families and gastronomy enthusiasts. Every evening the festival opens from 19:30 with dinner service until late night. The location within the pinewood offers a charming and relaxing setting, ideal for enjoying the dishes in good company.
