The medieval village of Montisi, a charming hamlet in the municipality of Montalcino set between the Crete Senesi and Val d'Orcia, welcomes the festival 'Il primo olio ed altro ancora', part of the wider 'Andar per frantoi e mercatini' initiative. This celebration is entirely dedicated to the newly pressed extra virgin olive oil and the finest local culinary traditions. The historic streets come alive with market stalls showcasing regional delicacies and artisan crafts. The programme features guided tours of local olive mills to observe the cold-pressing process firsthand, themed tastings, and festive dining with special lunches and dinners in restaurants and contrada halls. Organized in collaboration with the Pro Loco Giostra di Simone and the Municipality of Montalcino, the event pairs its rich food offerings with cultural walking tours exploring the village's top historical landmarks.
