Sagra del Fungo e della Castagna - Vivo d’Orcia (Mushroom and Chestnut Festival)

In the charming village of Vivo d'Orcia, nestled between the Val d'Orcia and the slopes of Monte Amiata in Castiglione d'Orcia, the traditional Sagra del Fungo e della Castagna makes its welcome return. This autumn celebration highlights forest delicacies with stands serving roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, and local produce, complemented by craft markets, traditional games, and lively traveling folk music. Visitors can dine in covered, heated dining halls featuring porcini mushroom specialties, offering self-service or reserved lunch seating, and dinner by reservation. The itinerary also features guided nature and heritage hikes through chestnut woods to the Sorgenti dell'Ermicciolo springs, culminating in the exciting Palio del Boscaiolo (woodcutter contest) on Sunday afternoon, October 18.
