The Sagra del Fungo Porcino brings the hamlet of Torchiati, in the municipality of Montoro, to life by celebrating the autumnal aromas and rich flavours of Irpinia. Founded in the 1990s, the festival is organized by the Associazione Oratorio Torchiati alongside the Parish of SS. Salvatore and S. Martino, highlighting the vital spirit of local community volunteers. The porcini mushroom takes centre stage on the culinary lineup: dishes prepared by volunteers include pasta courses like scialatielli and cortecce with porcini and sausage, mushroom risotto, as well as roast pork, grilled porcini, sausage sandwiches, and traditional desserts. Evenings are enlivened by live folk and traditional music. The gathering is driven by community charity: all proceeds raised throughout the festival support the educational and social programmes of the Torchiati youth community centre (Oratorio).
